Established in 1933 the Metropole offers the splendour of old world charm. The site of the Guesthouse was one of the first to be built upon in Katoomba. In 1880 a mountain home was built and was occupied by Rev. Barber.
In 1930, Mrs Godsell purchased the property and the mountain home was demolished to make way for a New Metropole Katoomba Guesthouse that opened three years later.
The Metropole today has been refurbished while still retaining much of the fine wood panelling and leadlight windows that were crafted in the 1930's for Mrs Godsell.
